- Optical Chamber and Thermal Element: The detector consists of an optical chamber and a thermal element. These components are continuously monitored by an onboard processor using specific algorithms developed for the unit. The processor determines the presence of an incipient fire before enabling an alarm signal. This approach reduces nuisance alarms and improves response time to actual fires.
- Backward Compatibility: The HML/PTSE and other detectors in the HML Series are backward compatible with the Series 100 detector bases. This compatibility allows for upgrading, extension, and maintenance of existing Series 100 installations, providing flexibility and cost-effectiveness.
- Bi-Color LED Indicator: The HML/PTSE detector includes a bi-color LED indicator. The LED changes color based on the detector’s status, with green indicating normal operation and red indicating an alarm condition. This visual indication offers users instant and clear information about the detector’s condition. The green LED can be programmed for blink or no-blink operation.
- Drift Compensation Algorithms: The detector incorporates “drift compensation” algorithms. These algorithms ensure consistent alarm sensitivity between service intervals, reducing the frequency of nuisance alarms. They also extend the period before cleaning of the detector chamber is required, resulting in maintenance savings.
- Adjustable Sensitivity: The HML/PTSE detector allows the sensitivity to be adjusted based on the application. Users can select from three preset alarm thresholds (Low, Medium, and High) to optimize performance and stability within the specific environment where it is installed. The selection can be easily made using a remote hand-held tool.
